Sweet Surrender

Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down - 031513 - Miz B

Bound by my birth ... my gender ... my time
Bound by my dreams ... my fears ... my secrets
Bound by my needs ... my hungers ... my thoughts
Bound by my limitations ... my longings ... my fantasies
Bound by my responsibilities ... my loyalties ... my agonies
Bound by my hopes ... my furies ... my expectations
Bound by my illusions ... my regrets ... my wounds
Bound by my circumstances ... my potential ... my destiny
Bound by my past ... my present ... my future
Bound by my mind ... my heart ... my loves
Bound by my choices ... my passions ... my independence

In your bonds, I escape my bindings
In your shackles, I surrender my body
In your chains, I relinquish my burdens
In your power, I release my self
In your dominion, I abdicate my control
In your mastery, I flee my mind
In your service, I yield to my ecstasy
In your ropes, I free myself.

Images of bondage are sometimes seen as shocking and  BDSM is largely misunderstood.  In the above poem, I hoped to challenge our assumptions about the bondage in which we all live and the release that sexual bondage can provide.

  1. Bondage does have many forms, some mild, some extreme, some are physical, some are mental, some feed on the power and control, some embrace the release of both, some come to measure out pain and pleasure, some come to endure one for the other, some are attracted to become enlightened, some to release the darkness within.

"My close-walled soul has never known
    That innermost darkness, dazzling sight,
Like the blind point, whence the visions spring
In the core of the gazer's chrysolite…
The mystic darkness that laps God's throne
    In a splendour beyond imagining,
    So passing bright.

    But the many twisted darknesses
That range the city to and fro,
In aimless subtlety pass and part
    And ebb and glutinously flow;
    Darkness of lust and avarice,
Of the crippled body and the crooked heart . . .
    These darknesses I know."
    - Aldous Huxley

Myself I have never understood the physical pain part. I do understand the mental part and I would have liked to have explored it in my youth. As she looked up to my face with those big doe eyes and whispered – yes Master; could be a good feeling lol. There are some dark places I have barely touched even as old as I am. There are some places I fear to open the door to.

I agree that bondage is not understood. In a room full of people, I think the merit of the subject would be debated hotly with no agreement at the end. I think if you did a man on the street you would get answers that the participants are forced into it like slavery, that they are mentally disturbed, only sick people do it, that it is all pain and humiliation and most would place bondage photographs in the porn category. I think few in the “regular” sexual world see it as good, as an addition or an alternative to their everyday in and out sex. I think the ones that are as creative in their sex life as they are in the other parts of their life could find it an expanded horizon of pleasure not available to the mundane.

"Some people fear seeing or feeling anything about which there is no general agreement. For others, it is thrilling to be aware of innuendo, shading, complexity. For those who do not wish to step away from consensus, the creative is useless at best; at worst, it is dangerous. But for those who are intrigued by the multiplicity of reality and the unique possibilities of their own vision, the creative is the path they must pursue."
    - Deena Metzger

We all seek our own level of comfort. We all seek the truth about ourselves. In reality we are all into bondage: it’s just some don’t use a rope.
